You could feel the pride and appreciation all over Virginia Beach’s highest peak and most popular park last spring. Rock the Squads achieved the goal of the principal sponsors – the City of Virginia Beach and its Department of EMS, Sentara Healthcare and the Virginia Beach Rescue Squad Foundation – to thank the thousand men and women who provide free emergency medical care and transport. And the volunteers felt it.
RTS2 will be Sunday, May 20, from Noon to 4:00 p.m. at Mount Trashmore.
- Malbon’s will be our caterer, providing delicious barbecue, fried chicken, sides and drinks.
There will be children’s activities and official judging of all ambulances and physical competitions among member teams. - Returning for year two will be commemorative challenge coins and t-shirts (one per member). At 3:00 p.m., kids from the School of Rock will take the stage to “rock the squads.”
Once again, a major highlight will be the group photo on the side of the hill. All members – past, present and in training – are urged to come, have lunch and then be ready to pose.
So volunteers, put May 20 on your calendar and RSVP to the Evite from the city. If you’re on duty, food will come to you, but if you are between calls, join us for RTS2!
