The new Blackwater Fire and EMS Station #13 opened on June 1, 2015, replacing the original station built in 1955, which has now been demolished.
The modern 11,408 square foot facility dramatically increases the space available for use by the rescue squad and includes an office, a dayroom/lounge for the duty crews and private bunkrooms. Additionally, the apparatus bays can now accommodate one ambulance, EMS special operations equipment and supplies.
“Anyone who wants to experience a relaxing and comfortable duty in the county is welcome to help staff the new station any time,” says Va. Beach Dept. of EMS Division Chief Ed Brazle.
