In January, Kempsville Volunteer Rescue Squad (KVRS) won the largest combination of grants in its 65-year history.
The squad will receive $172,684 from the state’s Rescue Squad Assistance Fund (RSAF) and $22,346 from the Virginia Beach Rescue Squad Foundation (VBRSF) for a total of $195,030.
These amounts represent about 63{543ea03a3bb8014408f5dde5a75a383e871d6d38ca7f937ec3aa0b8ea9b322be} of what they need to complete two critical projects: a sixth ambulance for its fleet and power gurney loading
and securing systems for all ambulances. The squad is still seeking about $101,000 in matching funds to complete these projects, but they are well on their way to accomplishing the mission.
