All it takes is the push of a button and Ocean Park Volunteer Rescue Squad can now more safely and easily load and unload a patient from the back of one of their advanced life support ambulances. Thanks to a grant from the Virginia Beach Rescue Squad Foundation, this is the first ambulance in the city to be outfitted with a Stryker Power-LOAD stretcher fastener system.
“Having the Power-LOAD in the ambulance allows for loading without heavy lifting and minimizes the risk of back injury for the ambulance crew, as well as providing an added layer of security for the patient,” says Jay Kerr, president of Ocean Park VRS.
